Our Services

Applied behavior analysis uses the science of learning and behavior to build skills and to reduce behaviors that interfere with learning and daily life. ABAS provides ABA in the home, at school, and in the community across Western Massachusetts.

We use the word learner for the person receiving services. Most learners are children, and a learner may be any age.

Types of ABA we provide

Every program begins with an assessment by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, who develops the treatment plan with your family. Some learners need development across many areas at once, and others need a focused set of skills. A program can change as the learner progresses.

Comprehensive ABA

Comprehensive programs develop skills across many areas at once, including language and communication, social relationships, play and leisure, daily living and self-care, safety, and reducing behaviors that interfere with learning. These programs suit a learner whose goals reach across most areas of development.

Focused ABA

Focused programs develop a smaller, targeted set of skills. These programs suit a learner who needs specific skills for health, safety, and independence, or whose behavior needs priority attention.

In both cases the recommended hours come from the assessment rather than from a standard package.

Who we serve

ABAS provides ABA services to children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Where and how services are delivered

Settings

Most services are delivered in the home and community, where a learner uses the skills they are building. We also provide contracted one-to-one services in school and daycare settings, and we consult with school and daycare teams.

Modalities

Most sessions are in person. A Behavior Analyst may also direct an in-home session remotely. Telehealth is available when it is clinically appropriate, over a HIPAA-compliant platform.

Caregiver training

Caregiver training is part of every treatment plan, so the skills a learner is building carry into daily routines.

Coordination

With your consent, the care team coordinates with the learner's school, early-intervention or daycare providers, and other health care providers.

Coverage and payment

ABA treatment is health care. Services are covered by insurance when medically necessary and prior-authorized, and rules and age limits vary from plan to plan. See Insurance & Coverage for the details on yours.

Services are available to anyone with an autism diagnosis, whatever their coverage. Families who are uninsured, out of network, or who would rather not bill insurance can arrange services privately, and our fee schedule is available on request.
